This month I was able to take a Wilton Cake Decorating class. I took course 4, which is learning gum paste flowers and decorations. Here are the cakes I made. The pink one didn’t get finished, but the blue one was my “final project” with all of the gumpaste flowers I made.

Better late than never right? We had a great Halloween this year. It’s been a tougher year than most financially so the theme of this years Halloween was recycle old costumes. The only thing I bought was Julianna’s sleeping mask ($5). The kids came up with their own costumes this year. I think they did a great job. We had a lot of fun on a budget!
Julianna went through several costume changes before settling on “pajama girl”. I let her borrow my purple silk pajamas. My friend, Brandi let us borrow her daughters hair rollers. I bought the mask and she grabbed her teddy (a gift from her friend Megan in Arizona) and wa la! Ready for trick or treats!

I think Devon called himself the “Grim Reaper” although I admit I have no idea who that is. Devon found the stick he turned into a scythe while we were taking our family photos at the Katherine Albertson Park. I love Devon’s enthusiasm for Halloween. I’m sure when he’s grown he’ll be “the house” on the block everyone looks to no matter what the holiday to enjoy the fun of the season.
Trevor gets an “A” for creativity. After looking through all of the costumes from Halloweens past he settled on combining two of his favorites and calling in the “Pirate ghost!” He also made his own weapon (a dagger out of tinfoil and cardboard)
Braden wore one of my favorite costumes ever. I made this scarecrow costume back in 2004 for Trevor when the 4 kids then were from the Wizard of Oz. Braden wore this costume well. It was fun to see the scarecrow brought to life again.

Zach’s costume was once used as a Halloween decoration. I made a pretend trick or treater dressed up like a ghost. Unfortunately the decoration kept falling over in the autumn winds so I quite putting it out. Zach announced he wanted to be a ghost for Halloween so I turned this decoration into a really fun costume for him. He was a delightfully funny ghost!

It’s official, we closed on June 30th. We bought our very first home in Lehi. We aren’t moving in until August, but we are very excited to have finally closed. The house is in Steve and Holly’s ward, so that’s exciting to be so close to family. I don’t have pictures of it right now, but here is the ad link from ksl.com: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=475&ad=6119114&cat=&lpid=4&type=1&city=lehi&zipcode=&sale=1&start=200,000&end=250000&state=0&sort=&keyword=
